Shoemakers & bootmakers of Ringstead

Shoemaking was the trade that shaped Victorian Ringstead, as it shaped much of Northamptonshire — the heart of England’s boot and shoe industry. Men worked first at the bench in their own homes, and later in the factories of nearby Rushden and Raunds. The click of the clicker’s knife and the smell of leather ran through village life for generations.
