David Ball, who researched and wrote these books over many years, died on 30 October 2022. This archive is kept online by his family so that his work, and the people of Ringstead whose lives he recorded, continue to be read.

David always hoped the books would be the beginning of a conversation rather than the last word — that “other records will come to light, and families will add their own stories.” If you have information, photographs or corrections about any of the people or families in these pages, we would be very glad to hear from you.
